OBREAL, with the support of ASCUN and the EU-LAC Foundation, is organising a new interregional dialogue. This time on “Women, Innovation and Science”. This dialogue consists of a series of webinars focusing on the challenges and opportunities for women in innovation and science.

These webinars will be held every two months. They are addressed to all those, both in the private and public sectors, who wish to learn about the different interregional perspectives on a topic as relevant as the role of women in areas such as innovation and science. A topic where there is still a long way to go to achieve the gender equality goals that are essential for our society. In particular we will hear the interregional perspectives from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and India.

The first webinar of “Women, Innovation and Science” took place on 26 April and focused on women’s leadership in research

As usual with events organised by OBREALl, this session had a strong interregional focus and brought together leading women from both the public and private sectors.

The panel consisted of:

  • Namita Thapar, Executive Director of EMCURE Pharmaceuticals (India)
  • Fabiana Bracco, CESO of Bracco Bosca Winery (Uruguay)
  • Sindey Carolina Bernal, Deputy Director of Educational Quality Reference and Evaluation of the Ministry of Education of Colombia.

The event was led and moderated by OBREAL’s Innovation and Institutional Development Advisor, Jimena Estrella.

The first webinar of the series “Women, Innovation and Science” was organised around three blocks of questions that offered different perspectives from the panellists on topics such as the current role of women in innovation, the difficulties they face, and how opportunities for mutual support can impact on progress towards greater equality in research.
